Stewardship of Prayer and Reflection

Two days from now in Rome, on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, Pope Francis will open the "Holy Door" to signal the opening of the Jubilee Year of Mercy. Fittingly, Baruch bids God's crushed and scattered people exchange robes of mourning and misery for the splendor of God's mercy, restoring them to peace, vindicating them with justice, and gathering them for worship. Paul confidently declares that God will continue fulfilling such promises by increasing believers' love and sharpening their discernment of enduring values.

As the Jubilee Year of Mercy begins, what twists and turns do I need to let God untangle in my life? What rough edges smooth out? What mountainous of pride bring low? What valleys of indifference and neglect fill with mercy for others

HOLY YEAR OF MERCY

This Holy Year will begin on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, December 8, 2015 and will conclude on Sunday, November 20, 2016, the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe and living face of the Father's mercy.

The mottoMerciful Like the Father(taken from the Gospel of Luke, 6:36) invites all of us to follow the merciful example of the Father who asks us not to judge or condemn but to forgive and to give love and forgiveness without measure.
