Stewardship of Prayer and Reflection

Jesus' instructions are also perfectly matched to Pope Francis's vision of our discipleship during this Jubilee Year of Mercy. Jesus forbids retaliation against the non- receptive: "If a peaceful person does not live there, your peace will return to you... Whatever town you enter and they do not receive you... say, 'The dust of your town that clings to our feet, even that we shake off'". By mentioning Sodom's fate long ago, Jesus clearly teaches that if any punishment is to come to anyone, that's God's business and doing, not ours. After all, as Paul reminds the Galatians, our only boast is in Jesus' cross. Our only duty, then, is to proclaim the Good News of God's mercy.

HOLY YEAR OF MERCY

As the Jubilee Year of Mercy begins, what twists and turns do I need to let God untangle in my life? What rough edges smooth out? What mountainous of pride bring low? What valleys of indifference and neglect fill with mercy for others

"Being Christian involves joining one’s own life, in all its aspects, to the person of Jesus, and through him, to the Father."

~Pope Francis
