Stewardship of Prayer and Reflection

By citing this story while reflecting on divorce, Jesus seeks to inspire disciples to recover the wonder of that initial
encounter between man and woman and the persevering self-gift then engendered.  No 50-50 legal deal contracted before a civil tribunal, marriage “in Christ” is a 100-100 percent mutual self-oblation, transacted before the altar of Christ’s own complete self-gift, Body and Blood, sacrifice and nourishment for his bride, the Church.
